Route One have recently secured a 5 year term contract with CarillionWSP in the Highways Agency Area 8 Managing Agent Contract.

Texture-Screed is screeded onto the prepared asphalt surface. It permanently fills voids, pot holes, ravelled surfaces, stressed areas, minor cracking and other defects in the asphalt surface.

Texture-Screed will halt the damaging effects of water ingress into the ravelled and often open asphalt surface. Texture-Screed can be applied in layers to fill minor pot-holes in otherwise sound asphalt surfaces. A fast curing, high friction repair that prolongs the life of the road surface.

The unique blend of Texture-Screed produces a thermo-setting, impervious and impact resistant load bearing repair. Once cured, Texture-Screed remains slightly flexible and leaves a high friction finish at the surface. Texture-Screed withstands high volumes of traffic. Texture-Screed cures in less than 30 minutes allowing the road to be opened with the minimal disruption to the road user. Texture-Screed is supplied in a range of colours making it a suitable repair able to "blend-in" with all asphalt surfaces.

Advantages

  • Reduced carriageway possession times against traditional surfacing
  • Environmentally friendly - No planing of existing surface
  • Fast curing
  • High friction
  • Regulates surface defects
  • Excellent wearing qualities

Route One Highways Seals Contract on M6 Motorway – 31/07/2008

Route One Highways have been commissioned by Optima (Atkins/Accord/Jarvis JV) the Highways Agency Managing Agent Contractor for Area 11 to treat approximatley 80 kilometres of asphalt joints on the M6 between Jn 13-15 on both Northbound and Southbound carriageway.

The work involves longitudinal and transverse joint treatment at 100mm wide using a rubberised hot applied joint sealant compound. This is a tough, flexible material and has good extension properties over a wide range of temperatures. As it also contains very small high psv aggregate it provides excellent skid resistance values. Inclusion of adhesion promoting agents means that no primer is required.

Route One Complete M18 Major Maintenance SchemeThe work part of the Area 12 Highways Agency Framework contract involved extensive full depth and thin bond concrete repair work to the Southbound carriageway prior to the concrete being overlaid with asphalt.

The full depth concrete repair work involved:

  • Full Depth Saw Cutting
  • Bulk Excavation
  • Full Fix Reinforcement
  • Placement and Finishing of PQC
  • Rapid Curing Mix Design for Early Carriageway Re-possession

Planned full depth strengthening to over 100 gullies was carried out on the Northbound carriageway prior to installing the contra-flow traffic management. Route One were also required to attend to emergency repair work to the Northbound carriageway as a result of heavy trafficking under the contra-flow traffic management.

All work was completed on time to enable the surfacing works to be laid without delay.

The joint systems have many uses and features. The EMR system has been developed to withstand heavy volume trafficking on bridges and viaducts and allows horizontal movement of up to 150mm. The Nosing Joint Expansion System allows for horizontal movements up to 40mm.

Each system can be rapidly installed in one lane at a time with no mechanical fixings.

Route One Highways now offer the following bridge maintenance services:

The £240 million scheme managed by the Joint Venture Skanska UK and Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering involves the widening of the M1 between Junction 6A (with the M25) and Junction 10 (Luton South).

As approved installers Route One have been nominated to supply and install Pavix on over 25,000m2 of new concrete surfaces which inlcudes:

  • 11 underbridges on both carriageways
  • 7 overbridges
  • Signs and matrix gantries

Pavix CCC 100 was the preferred surface impregnation treatment as it penetrates deeply into the structure to be protected and forms insoluble crystals that seal voids and block the ingress of moisture while allowing the material to breathe. At the surface Pavix CCC 100 creates an invisible and insoluble water repelling effect. An environmentally friendly water-based treatment, Pavix CCC 100 is non-toxic and safe for people, flora, fauna and marine life. It is used to protect old and new surfaces from damage caused by water ingress, freeze thaw, weed growth and helps keep the surface free from dirt and stains. Pavix CCC 100 meets the requirements of BD43/03 and has a worldwide track record of success.
